I made a quick detour to pick up the set meal from Little Taipei Cafe. It's been a long time since I got their food so I ordered on the spot vs calling in the order. I had to see what the latest menu offering is. The woman who took my order was helpful to recommend non-spicy dishes for my kids. The food smelled so good that after bringing it into the car I had to open and inspect each one. Hah. I haven't eaten it yet but everything looks good.
I barely know how to rate this place, because it is about as dirty hole in the wall as you can get, but damn if my family doesn't order takeout from here all the freaking time. It's cash-only, the food is fast and affordable, and the server is great. We frequently get the salt and pepper fish, the gravy-style chao fan, and the string beans.
Friendly and quick. Food comes out fresh and hot. This is mostly a take-out spot, but they have a few tables to sit and eat. Cash only!
I heard that this little cafe served really authentic Taiwanese dishes and I was excited to go and try it out for myself. I was specifically interested in their fan tuans (rice burritos) since it is rare to find them in the Bay. They only make them over the weekend and it's considered a breakfast item. The fan tuans were huge and one was enough as a full meal. There was plenty of filling (pork sung, Chinese donut, and picked veggies) and the first time we went, they offered to add an egg and some cilantro and green onions if we wanted it. We've been back a few times and it always hit the spot. We also went when they had a bunch of zong zis available, both the savory and sweet ones. We bought one of each and were able to reheat them back at home. The most recent time we went, we ordered their beef noodle soup and their Shanghai noodles. The beef noodle soup was extremely flavorful and the meat and tendon were both cooked with a perfect amount of tenderness. I wish it had more toppings and veggies, but nevertheless, it was still very good and felt authentic. I wasn't as impressed with the Shanghai noodles, but because the other dishes tasted so good, it wasn't a big deal and we were still able to finish it. I always look forward to going back for more Taiwanese food and can't wait to continue exploring what they have to offer. Keep in mind they are cash only and accept orders placed over the phone ahead of time for pick up.

I've been coming here for years and never remember the name. They don't speak much English. I enjoy their mifen (rice vermicelli) a lot. They usually cook a larger pot of it on Sundays, but you can really just order it anytime and they will make it. Their rice dumplings are OK, I generally go to other spots for that.
